Don’t Walk, Run!

ANY CHANCE YOU HAVE TO SEE “WHIFFLER,” CLEVELAND’S NEWEST SHOWSTOPPERS, IS A CHANCE YOU NEED TO TAKE.

The newly formed four piece rock band known as Whiffler are one of the most exciting things happening in the Cleveland music scene right now, and that is not up for debate.

I was lucky enough to be in attendance for Whiffler’s first ever performance in the Mahall’s Apartment with Tall Grass and Mr. Princess on April 7th. Their first ever show was in front of a sold out room, and they left everyone in attendance wanting more.

Last night (May 25th, 2023) Whiffler took the stage with two of the heaviest hitters in Cleveland, Drag Daze and Mud Whale, and absolutely wowed the crowd in the Ballroom at Beachland Ballroom & Tavern.

Nick Scotese, Cian Liaskos, Jack McLaughlin, and Aidan Forrey may be four of the best musicians in the local Scene. It’s shocking how tight they already are as a group, until you learn that they have been playing together in a jazz band as students at Cleveland State University for some time. You can absolutely tell that the four of them are truly students of the art of music when you hear their wonderfully crafted songs, complete with some of the catchiest choruses you’ll hear in rock music, the sudden changes in tempo, and most impressively the back and forth solos by all four members.

I haven’t seen another band in Cleveland make the type of music that Whiffler is making. I don’t know how to categorize it, or who to compare it to. The band has been hard at work in the studio, but currently their only song available for streaming is their astounding debut single “Magnet.”

“Magnet” will give you a taste of what to expect from Whiffler in the future, but the only way to truly understand why I am so excited to see what is to come from these guys is to get yourself to a live show. When you see Whiffler’s name on a bill around town, don’t walk, run!!
